they have given the ultimate sacrfice, but they did it for the

First tour with 101st PhanRang RVN. Returned to VungTau for 2 months
but was sent to CanTho and became door gunner. I was there during Tet
Offensive. Would like to talk with anyone in the 147th who was in
CanTho during the big communist assault. I would like to speak with
someone who was on the Chinook that attempted to resupply an ARVN
unit with Special Forces advisors in the Mekong Delta. Two Cobra
gunships escorted us in the hot site and our helicopter took many
hits (nobody killed) but hydraulic system damaged. We limped back
to base at treetop level. Runway was foamed for possible crash but
was not needed. Anyone there at the Can Tho airbase during the
assault when approximately 100 enemy were killed and about a dozen
GI's? Also did anyone witness the outhouse fill up with purple smoke
(smoke grenade) during this time? Bomb squad didn't think it was too
funny, nor the commander of the base. I thought it was. How did they
know it was me who booby trapped the latrine with a smoke grenade? |
