SGT ML Gains was the Shops NCOIC, and SSG Gallegoes was the PSG. SP4 Kent Perry was the Eng Mech. The unit flew 4 CH47C's from Ft Carson to Heidleberg Ger for "Operation Northern Leap". 1 acft was destroyed at Ft Carson during training for O.N.L. All crew members survived unhurt. My OIC was CW4 Roth, a real gentlemen, and one of the finest pilots I ever had the pleasure of working for. (80 - 81) 45th Trans Co Camp Humphreys ROK Supported 271st BlackCats. I was made an honorary member, but never received my certificate of appreciation before I left ROK. I wish I had it. It was a pleasure to work in a Chinook company and a thrill to have been a crewmember. I still miss the rush. To all on active duty: Keep your heads down and your chins up; come home safe, and bring your buddies with you. GOD Bless you all, and GOD bless America. |

I was with 224th MI working on Beech King Airs at HAAF 02. After deploying to Kuwait I decided that I would try and go home to Huntsville, where I continued to work with Dyncorp, but now was an FE on C-23 aircraft. I then had a better job opportunity in 03 with Lear Siegler crewing the new F-model Chinook. I loved it and I think everyone will enjoy the new glass cockpits. I then decided to go and crew a desk as a analyst with Intuitive working with the Cargo PM office at Redstone. God Bless. |
